The 6th International Festival of Wine and Culinary

For 6th consecutive year Zagreb becomes an international gathering place for wine and gastronomy lovers

The Sixth International Festival of Wine and Culinary opens its doors to visitors on 25th and 26th of November in premises of The Regent Esplanade hotel from 12 – 20 hours. Festival gathers many prominent Croatian and international winemakers and this year will only strengthen its reputation as one of the central meeting place of professionals, experts and gastronomy lovers. Based on the submitted application, as well as interest in recent years, there will be a record attendance of exhibitors, more than 230, which makes it the largest festival ever. In addition to domestic winemakers, producers are expected to arrive from France, Italy, Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Spain and Montenegro and many will be represented through the importer. Leading producers of food, olive oil, truffles, cheeses, ham and honey will also introduce their products and cuisine.

In order to enable visitors as many interesting contents as possible, there are a variety of workshops and attractive wine and food education with top Croatian and international wines and winemakers, which were designed for business people, merchants, sommeliers, caterers, people in public life, but also for fans of wine and food who have an amateur interest in gastronomy. In three separate areas – restaurant Zinfandel, casino area and the Oleander terrace – there will be workshops with local and international winemakers, culinary bloggers, associations dedicated to gastronomy and organizations related to tourism and gastronomy. For the first time in Croatia there will be organized workshop with the best vintage of two prominent French wineries in Bordeaux – Château Clinet and Château La Dominique.

With a desire to open a discussion on current issues, the organizers will within festival, on 24th November, gather key interlocutor on the topic of the role of wine in the development of tourism brand. Representatives of institutions, organizations, associations and winemakers will address the key challenges in exploiting the potential of wine in the construction of Croatia as top international destinations.

International Festival of Wine and Culinary continues with humanitarian activities and the day before the opening ceremony, 24th November, organizes humanitarian auction of archive wines and gala dinner which will be held at The Regent Esplanade hotel. This year the organizer will help the House of St. Joseph for abandoned children in Croatian Leskovac, that provides a family home for children and young people who, for some reason, can not grow up in their own families. The auction will provide valuable archive wines that will be especially interesting to collectors, but also to other lovers of good wine. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to the House to cover the costs of reconstruction of decrepit building that represents home to 29 children and adolescents aged 8-22 years. A certain number of seats are still available and we invite all who wishes to participate in this humanitarian action to contact the organizers.

To promote the local gastronomy outside the country, within the organization of festival will be held a visit of 25 international journalists and merchants specialized in the topic of wine and wineries. They will, from 21st November, in specially organized professional tours, get to know Istria, local wineries and restaurants, as well as wine and cuisine.
